Revamped Emails Lift Engagement by 70%+
At the start of August, we began testing a simplified email template for custom emails, reintroducing some fundamentals to the tens of millions of emails we’re sending on behalf of sellers each month. All images are clickable, seller logos are clearer, and each email, even when promoting different sellers, maintains a consistent look and feel. The template removes distractions and guides the reader from skimming the headline to viewing the lots and, ultimately, to placing their bids.
Why We Built This
Our goal was to create a unified experience for our bidders that drives engagement within and across emails, ultimately producing better auction performance for our sellers. Further, this new template enables us to continue down a path of testing, iterating and continuously improving.

Results That Matter
Since launch, email click rates increased by at least 26%, and up to 72%, for individual sellers compared to their previous campaigns. In terms of auction performance, registrations from these advertising emails increased as much as 2.4x and bids increased 2.8x using the new template. All of this to say, the value of our email advertising options just dramatically increased!
